We're In

Well, it's official now. We're out of the old and into the new. And loving it. There's so much to do. (so much!) It took a few days to get our fridge and stove. What a drag, living out of coolers and watching food spoil. Blech. No worries though. We lived on bagels and coffee for a while. Still not back to a regular routine but getting there.

Things are still being unpacked (or stepped over). It's ridiculous how much stuff two people can have. Do I really wear all those clothes? I swear, I've purged clothing every three months and still don't have enough closet space. Granted, there's zero storage space in this place. But we're being creative.

When funds are better, we'll put up shelves in the kitchen and maybe get another dresser. We need a washer and dryer too. For now, it's weekly trips to the laundromat. But back to the kitchen shelves thing ... I've never seen a naked kitchen before. This place has no cabinets. Just the ones under the sink. No surfaces either. Just next to the sink. So yeah, creativity is essential.

No worries, did I mention the yard? Ha. I know I did. It's just so great to have so much space out back and front. It's not quite dog-proof yet. We're working on it. Hunny doesn't mind. Look what the dog dragged in. Yard remnants -- stuck to her fur. It's a daily occurrence. We're lucky Piper hasn't brought in bones of shaken rodents yet. He's a hunter at heart. And he will kill. Little 7-lb beast. Beware.

The backyard is filled with mysterious creatures and random items from years past. A shell of a 1965 VW Beetle is resting way in the back by the gate. Half the gate has fallen off its pole. The yard trash is being dumped into that eyesore to be removed after we get another one to fill with the rest of the yard trimmings. Half of those weeds are already gone. The trees are trimmed. And the "vicious" doggie next door wants to be our best friend. We're on a roll.

Neighbors are so friendly. Moreso than any other neighborhood I've lived in. I think they're just happy we're going to take care of the grounds...make this place look loved.

Apparently there hasn't been anyone living in the house for over two years. The previous tenant ran an illegal casino out back (that explains all the rugs we're picking up under the brush out back). It drove the next door neighbors crazy. Eventually that tenant was evicted. So the story goes.

I'll assume this house is paid off if it sat here empty for two years. So the landlord had it renovated (inside is all new) and here we are.

Oh, I have to see if I can get tv reception in the living room. No cable. We're rabbit-earring it. Survivor starts in twenty minutes. Not that I have time to stop, but I'm making myself slow down, just for that hour.

Back soon. Would love to share and take more pictures but my battery is dead and the charger is here...somewhere...in one of these boxes. I'm working on it.

Wow! That backyard is humongous. I can't even see the shell of a bug. I was going to say it looks like the landlord has been renovating. The windows look new and recently so. Congrats again!
